The association Mémoires de l’Himalaya is pleased to announce that the digitization of the photographic collection of Gisèle Hyvert 1970-71 has begun thanks to exceptional funding.
It is a corpus of more than 1,000 photographs taken in the Kathmandu Valley during her first mission to Nepal for UNESCO between June 1970 and November 1971. This unpublished documentation bears witness to the conservation and restoration work carried out on various sites in the Kathmandu Valley.
Subsequently, the work of geolocating and indexing the images will be carried out in order to put this corpus online.
