TIBET 1980-81

In 1980, Michel Colchen, Jean-François Dobremez, Corneille Jest and Patrick Le Fort took part in the first scientific mission authorized to visit the Tibet Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China. For almost 2 weeks, around 70 foreign researchers were guided by the Chinese authorities between Lhasa and Nyalam, via Yangpachen, Gyantse and Shigatse.

Subsequently, several scientific missions led by geologists were carried out in Tibet, notably in July-August 1980 (Michel Colchen) and 1981 (Fernand Meyer).
